The Importance of Tree Trimming

Proper tree trimming is an essential element of overall tree care and long-term health of your tree. Our ISA Certified Arborists are experts at identifying the pruning needs of any tree.

Trees are an investment, and it’s important to take proper care of them to ensure they stay healthy, thrive in their urban environment, and add value to your property for years to come. Regular tree trimming allows us to help you do just that, all while helping to avoid potential issues down the road.

Pruning young trees helps to establish a beneficial limb structure enabling your tree to grow in a way that prolongs its lifespan and helps to keep your tree healthy.

Pruning more established trees helps to allow for more light and air to pass through the crown, this can help mitigate any potential storm damage and benefits both the health of the tree and any vegetation growing underneath the shade of the canopy.

There are many risks associated with incorrect pruning or trimming practices, the most severe being a reduction in the tree’s lifespan. Often when a tree is pruned incorrectly it is forever changed, making any attempt to “fix it” costly and frustrating. Getting your tree assessed by our team and trimmed by one of our skilled crews is the best way to ensure that your tree lives a long and healthy life.

We Adhere to ANSI Guidelines

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has set forth guidelines for tree pruning and trimming that we adhere to in order to help further ensure practices that are safe and in the best interest of your trees. These standards for tree pruning are comprised of 4 sections; crown cleaning, thinning, raising, and reducing (only performed when appropriate).

Crown Cleaning

Cleaning the crown of your tree means exactly that, we remove dead, broken, or diseased branches located in throughout the entire tree.

Raising the Tree

Raising your tree grants enough space for the vertical clearance necessary to walk underneath the tree, this is frequently required to be within city codes.

Thinning the Tree

Thinning of the tree is the artful removal of living plant material from dense areas within your tree, this helps to reduce weight and allows for wind to pass through your tree more safely.

We proudly adhere to these standards because doing so sets us apart and helps us to keep the trees in our community strong and healthy. The Climbing Grunt Tree Service takes pride in a job well done. After we have completed your tree pruning, we will happily haul away the debris we created in the process in one of our trailers or chipper trucks. If you would prefer to have any of the wood either stacked on your curb, or left for your use (i.e. firewood) just let us know, we are happy to help. It is our goal to leave your trees in beautiful condition, and your yard in better shape than when we first arrived.
